Overloader

Get it here
---
It has SO many nice features, check here Overloader Specifications
---
Did you use the compatibility mode for Windows NT on buzz.exe? Right click the buzz.exe file and check the settings there.
---
No sound from wav's in the wavetable - if you just downloaded the big pack and installed it, the problem : you need to change the extended overloader output extensions to a Overloader Output and there you go it is enabled
---
It has been known to cause problems in certain setups, but hey live and learn ! I love it, it does stuff without you really realizing that it helps :) (a good sign for any application) - Extended Help Menus, Noiseburst protection, Transparancy, Buzz Stability, SongInfo, - for WinXP
---
I get the window for editing but it shows no sample data
Press the little >> button to load the sample in the editor... and if the >> doesn't show, click on another sample, then back on the one you want, and the >> should show

Overview of Overloader Recorder Support

By now you must know that Overloader has a set of plugins called Recorder plugins. These plugins allow for the user to record buzz output into a variety of formats with a variety of options.

Also note that if you're a developer, the "not yet supported" part would be a hint to start up on a project.

Supported Formats in Overloader at the moment (April 1):

APE Monkey's Audio Format. Lossless.
However the recorder is pretty old. they changed the interface a couple of times.

MP3 MPEG-1 Layer 3. Lossy.
Uses a LAME DLL interface, which is upgradeable.

OGG Ogg Vorbis 1.0. Lossy.
Recently fixed and updated in Overloader 1.5 K, the large bitrate bug was fixed.

WAV Windows Wave Format. Lossless.
This works in 16-bit PCM, 24-bit packed int (based on CoolEdit 2000's format), 32-bit PCM, and 32-bit float.

The Next Sun Au, and Raw formats aren't exactly important anyway, they are more for just in case and demonstration purposes of more of interest to developers.

Not Yet Supported Formats that might be useful (pretty much all of these have some kind of source, API or SDK):

AAC Advanced Audio Coding. Lossy.
There are a couple of (sometimes incompatible) versions of AAC in the past, a decent one with source would be FAAC\FAAD. MP4 seems to be related to AAC.
Find out more information at AudioCoding.com

AIFF Audio Interchange Format File. Lossless.
This might be useful for the mac ex-patriates (or something). There is also IAFC for compressed AIFFs.
There's a lot of information about the AIFF file format on places such as Wotsit.org

BONK Bonk Audio Format. Lossy\Lossless.
I'm not too familiar with this one, but there are plugins available for both Winamp2 and Winamp3.
Find out more information at Bonkenc.org

FLAC Free Lossless Audio Codec. Lossless.
Format documentation and source code is available, even tho I couldnt get back my old email yet, I think it was k.m.krebs who wanted to start this project, so if you would like to collab with him on this you may want to email him.
Find out more information at Free Lossless Audio Codec

MP4 MPEG-4 AAC. Lossy.
See AAC.

MV3 MP3+V (or MP3 plusV). Lossy.
Source code and documentation is available.
Find out more information at MV3 MP3 MP3 plusV

LPAC Lossless Predictive Audio Compression. Lossless.
An API to interface with the codec DLL is available.
Find out more information at LPAC Lossless Predictive Audio Compression

RA RealAudio Format. Lossy.
An SDK seems to be available.
Find out more information at Real Audio

VQF TwinVQ Audio Format. Lossy.
it seems this is now out of date, and VQF is out now, the source used to be available, you can probably somehow get the source code from NTT (if that still exists) or something, however in Japanese, seems to provide a bit of information about the encoder dll.

WMA Windows Media Audio. Lossy.
An SDK seems to be available.
Find out more information at WMA

If you are planning on writing a plugin, you may want to use the very latest Overloader developer files which are part of Overloader 1.5.
