Polac VST Loader Issues/FAQ

This is one of my favorite buzz machines, it does wonderous VST note and parameter control/automation/chaining. Good memory too, no more need to worry about corrupted bmx files from VSTs (unlike the old loader) - Even if the dll is absent, your bmx will load 100% correctly - Polac Rules :) Errors are really rare and are usually involved with using older versions ... the current version is 1.19b and works great !!
---
Read its Helpfile Online and download the lastest version
---
Some things that it can provide -
1) Loads all the latest and greatest VSTi/VSTs
2) Excellent parameter automation of all vst params - a few quick assignments and you are done
3) ONE pattern entry of lfo commands will create ultimate havoc of vst params movements
4) An extremely well written help file online - Polac's PVST Site
5) A Virtual midi keyboard from your pc keyboard
6) Great midi support
7) Piano Roll Implementation
8) Good Organization of VST listings based on your computer's folders
9) Good pattern editor layout with many common commands like delay, cut, velocity getting a column in a track for easy access
10) SO MANY great tracker commands, really a treat - 04 chord, pattern transpose, morph programs, arp, lfo, etc
11) The Ulitmate Preset Factory
12) Attributes, Pitchmod, Multitimbral vst support, an internal menu browser - f2,f3,f4, quick access to programs and subprograms and so so much more!!!

a) 2 loader instances share the same name - can't do this with ANY buzzmachines - use different names for each and every machine always
b) Famous save on quit dialog bug - don't hit save when buzz crashes, you will probably corrupt your bmx permanantly
c) Don't rename the .dll in your file explorer
d) Installed different versions on top of each other - don't do it
---
Are you using a diffrent name for Buzz.exe? You have to use buzz.exe and not buzz2.exe,hello.exe, etc
---
Try to remove the vst index.ini (filename) and rescan your dir upon reload. (may take a while)
---
Is the machines.dll located properly in the gear dir ?
---
Buzz\Gear\Machines.dll
Buzz\Gear\Generators\Polac VSTi 1.1.dll [VST Instrument Loader]
Buzz\Gear\Effects\Polac VST 1.1.dll [VST Effect Loader]
Buzz\Gear\Effects\Polac Out.dll [for multiple output support]
Buzz\Gear\Effects\Polac MIDI In.dll[->for additional midi in devices]
---
Did you try it without the asterisks (*) in the index.txt ?
---
Multitimbral VSTis.
how about:
Program Change
0D xxyy
xx(0-7F): Bank Select.
yy(0-7F): Program Change
Re: 0d xxyy xx(0-7F) yy (0-7F)
---
Polac vst - becomes silent when loading another one
- I notice this too with Absynth 2. I believe absynth 2 is the problem.
- Absynth has been known to have problems with program change

Triplets in Polac's Vst using note delays
Use values 00,AA and 55.
This is how it would look for triplets over 8 rows, you can strech to fit.

--------
1)You can't send midi from polac's loader to a buzz machine.
2)To use your pc keyboard with a VSTi Mkey is not needed because you can switch 'virtual midi keyboard' on in the preferences of the loader.
3)If you want to use the qwerty keyboard with Matilde (or any other buzz gen via uMw's midi patcher or cyan's mc-1), you have to install a virtual midi port like midi yoke and a virtual keyboard ( i like this one: http://www.bome.com/midi/keyboard/ )
The midi yoke output of the keyboard must be the same port as Buzz's midi input in the preferences.
----
On Polac's internal virtual midi keyboard - most pc keyboards CAN'T detect more than 2 keys reliabily. Some key combos work, some don't. It's been a problem for pc's since the dawn of pc's. It's got nothing to do with polacs loader. Get one of those Creative keyboards with a little piano midi keyboard built in :)
---
PitchMod -
Insert 30FE in the track parameter row.
Now you can record the pitch wheel movements or enter the values manually.
---
Reaktor - Can't buzz in the compatibility mode for NI vst's to work. Either that or someone said if you set the installers for the NI stuff to NT compatibilty mode when installing it'll work with buzz in NT mode... or something :)
---
If you get errors with absynth 2 loading in buzz, remove the "program compatability" option by right clicking on the buzz exe.

If buzz will not work unless its in a compatability mode, then you have to be sneaky and re authorize your absynth 2.0 with the absynth 2 exe in compatability mode and the registration in compatablity mode as well.

Now if all three programs (abysynth 2, buzz, and the registration program) are in the same compatability mode, you can simply re authorize and it will allow absynth 2.0 to run in buzz!
---
Registration problems of reaktor 4 and absynth 2 can be most easily solved in buzz.

The compatibility modes are causing the trouble!
workaround:
Don't run buzz in compatible mode. the system changed it's id in those and the registration of reaktor and absynth go down the drain.
---
Very cool effect - using tracker commands 06,07 for lfos/automation on vstis! Read its Helpfile Online
---
Some VSTi's like Waldorf's PPG Wave require you to use the Fixed Length setting on PVST's setting page, or every other note will not be heard.

When using a midi keyboard and a midi controller without a Midi Thru box (which would put both of them on the same Input Device) you have to set the Midi controller (such as Kaoss Pad's X/Y controller) as buzz's main midi device, and use Polac MIDI In for connecting your keyboard, or else the CC msgs from the controller are not as easily passed to PVST. Only with a few VSTi's is this avoidable (such as z3ta+), the kinda that let you right click on a VSTi's knob or slider or whatever else and "Learn Midi".
or you can just use midi-ox and loopback drivers.

One of the most useful buzzmachines ever, Frank Potulski aka Polac deserves some donation for all his effort!

Special thanks to all the ppl's posts from buzzmachine.com's bulletin board that this was compiled from
